About the Summer Institute

Picture4Each summer, the Illinois State Writing Project offers the graduate course ENG 409.06 (The Writing Process, 3 credits) for students enrolled in one of several graduate programs in the Department of English. The course, recognized as the “Summer Institute,” engages a cohort of K-16 teachers in writing, reading, discussion, and reflection. At the conclusion of the Institute, participants are recognized as Teacher Consultants in the ISWP and enjoy varied leadership and professional development opportunities. Students accepted for the Summer Institute who are already enrolled in one of the degree and certificate programs noted below receive a full tuition waiver for the course.
